I discovered my knack for home decor and organization when I was a kid. Being the middle of three sisters, my life was a series of hand-me-downs. From furniture, to sports gear to shoes and clothes…. you name it, it wasn’t new. So, I would come up with ways to make them feel new again.
As a teen, I would hang out with friends listening to music and gossiping, while cleaning their closet, refolding their clothes, or creating an organizational system for their desk. Who does that?? I couldn’t stop myself. Wherever I saw a mess, I would go.
My 20’s brought a series of roommates and small apartments which made me really good at space saving ideas and purging the unnecessary. Even during my career in the film industry, tidy up jobs kept finding me. Friends would tell other friends about me and I'd get random calls asking me to help. I was making money at a business I hadn't even started yet!
So, in 2009, Tidy UpToronto was officially born. My focus is on making home spaces more functional and free of clutter. With every home I visit, I simply teach these essential steps to keeping tidy -- so I wrote it all down (there are books about this, right?). People can do this on their own, at their leisure, with a new outlook on their home operations and maintenance.
